Police Polygraph Exam Secrets
The polygraph has never been popular. Inadmissible in court, dreaded by criminals, and forget police applicants; they would rather have a root canal than be subjected to the "box." Even police agencies have mixed feelings regarding the lie detector (which it's not) but that depends on whether they are giving or taking the test. The polygraph has steadily lost credibility in the legal arena, yet thousands of law enforcement agencies still use this ancient ritual to screen applicants. The key to polygraph testing rests on the skill of the examiner, which varies widely, even within the United States. The polygraph is an instrument that solely relies on the interpretation of the operator.[..]
Get Out of the Street!
For crying out loud! Didn't your mother tell you NOT TO PLAY IN THE STREET! Most people may not know this, but the Holiday Season is PRIME TIME for CRIME! Crime can happen anytime, anywhere, but from my experience as a cop in Southwest Florida, the Thanksgiving through Christmas holidays were always exceptionally active for the bad guys. I am sure all the psycho analyzers will give you all the reasons, from poor socioeconomic upbringing to some guys just want things and can't afford them so they take them. It's not really their fault, its society's fault. Yes, we were swamped with burglaries too, the bad guys doing the "reverse Santa Clause". We had a lot of Armed Robberies too, mostly[..]
The Castle Doctrine and Your Right to Self Defense
Usually when it comes to laws on self defense, the courts expect a person to flee to safety if they can. This is called your Duty to Retreat. If someone doesn't do this and uses deadly force instead, that person will have to prove that their life was in danger and that there was no chance to escape from harm. If he or she can't prove those two things, then there is a good chance they will end up being convicted in a court of law. There is an exception to this Duty to Retreat law. It's called the Castle Doctrine. This doctrine varies from state to state, but the general meaning of the law is that you should not be expected to flee your own home if someone has broken in illegally. It's[..]
Fraud Prevention in the Workplace
All over the globe, companies are victims of fraudulent activities everyday in the workplace. Workplace background checks are necessary for companies who want to safeguard corporate assets. The scope of workplace fraud is broad. It includes petty thieving, such as employees who would "borrow" paper supplies with no intention of returning or reimbursing them; to heavier crimes such as massive amounts of cash magically disappearing from the company books. It is no wonder that employee background check and employer background check is becoming more and more critical for any business institution. Although companies cannot detect most of infractions, there are ways to prevent these fraudulent[..]
Florida Drivers Convicted of DUI Must Submit Form FR-44 to the Bureau of Financial Responsibility
As of October 1, 2007, a person convicted of driving under the influence (DUI) is required to maintain increased auto insurance liability in the amount of 100/300/50. The amount indicated represents liability coverage of $100,000 per person for bodily injury or death, $300,000 total for any one accident for bodily injury or death and $50,000 of property damage liability for any one accident. A combined single limit of liability in the amount of $350,000 for bodily injury, death and property damage in any one accident will also satisfy the Fr-44 requirement. A reinstatement fee of $150, $250, or $500 (1st, 2nd, 3rd offense) will be required for license reinstatement. If the person[..]
Steps to Take When You're Being Abused
Whether it's physically or mentally, no one likes to be abused. Here are some tips in which you can try to stop being the victim of domestic abuse. Be patient and stay quiet It does take a lot of strength to be patient, but if you lose control over yourself, you could get abused even more. You do not want to make the offender even angrier. But, in the case of rape, when you know that there's someone out there who will help you, scream like never before and ask for help. You may be punched and kicked before help comes but, at least, you know someone will come and put the madness to an end. Learn martial arts If you are scared things could get worse if you tell your school or go to the[..]
Mexican Government Anger at Twitter Use by Drug Cartels
Mexicans cartels have adopted a new technique in avoiding military raids and police checkpoints; using Facebook and Twitter. The social networking sites have been on the radar of government officials who believe it has been used to facilitate the abduction of the relatives of powerful businessmen and politicians, as kidnappers are allegedly using the social networking sites to identify the families of a high profile individual and monitoring their daily activity. Ordinary citizens have already angered the government by using twitter to alert one another of the locations of breathalyzer checkpoints via '@anitaa_df' and now use of the site has expanded to drug dealers. Mexican security[..]
Theft In The Vending Machines Business
Is stealing from a vending machine really stealing? You had better believe it is, and you can end up in serious trouble for it. Too many people have the idea that it is really no big deal. After all, what are they taking, less than a dollar worth of merchandise? Yet that is a dollar that some hard working person won't get. When you multiple that times the number of people stealing from a particular vending machine in a week it adds up. Over the course of a year that dollar sure turns into a pile of them. There are many in our society that believe it is only young kids that are likely to steal from vending machines. Yet there are just as many adults participating in this type of behavior.[..]
The Dangerous World of Regency England
Although on occasion the Bow Street Runners, the then law enforcers of London, traveled into the country where one of their criminal cases might lead them, the country areas were policed by magistrates. These in turn appointed constables, who jailed and bound criminals over to said magistrates. Justices of the Peace dealt with minor offences at the Petty Sessions. More severe cases were held four times a year at the Quarter Sessions. The most severe cases were referred by the Quarter Sessions to the sitting judges to hear at the Assizes. The Magistrates were appointed by the Crown and drawn from the landowning aristocracy, the country gentry, and the Anglican clergy, who were often[..]
The Latest Hot Chili Weapon in India
Peppers have been used for defense purposes for thousands of years. The use of a powder made from hot peppers to blind one's enemies has been documented in ancient Japan, China, and India, where cayenne peppers were the most frequently used variety. In Japan, this method was known as a Metsubishi box; it was used by the police, who would blow the chili powder into the eyes of convicted criminals. With the advent of modern, aerosol-can pepper sprays in the 1960s and 1970s, many of these older methods of using peppers for self defense died out as they were surpassed by more powerful dispersion methods. Because the chemical in hot peppers, capsaicin, was isolated in the 1960s, today's[..]
How do you know if you have a victim mentality? What exactly makes someone a potential victim? Predators are very good at noticing the signs of a potential victim. They seek these people out because they are the easiest to attack. Learning the signs that predators are looking for will help you not to become one of their victims. The Grayson/Stein Study There is a very famous study that was conducted in 1984 by Betty Grayson and Morris Stein. The study researched the criteria that predators used to select their victims. They videotaped pedestrians in New York City and showed the videos to convicts who were in prison for violent offenses. The convicts only took a few seconds to pick out[..]
If you received a circular in the mail from an estate locator describing that you received an inheritance, be careful. You could be the focus of a cunning scam artist. It would be nice if you received a huge inheritance from a long-lost friend or family member. It does happen but not too often. "Research specialists" is the term to describe these white collar criminals. However, they did not find you by doing research at all. You are simply a focus of mass mailings for many people nationwide. Thousands of people having the same surname receive a notice that a huge inheritance has been located in their names. Many of these people are suckered into mailing a fee around $30 or $40 for[..]
A Portable Self Defense Weapon in Your Ninja Keychain
A ninja kubotan is a metal stick that has spikes for your fingers to grip. There are models that have keychains for them so that you can keep the weapon with you at all times. Self defense is now top priority for many different people. After all, the current job market has changed drastically from the nine to five routines of yesterday. People are now being outsourced all over the world, and they have to work during different times of the day, sometimes waking up at midnight to work until the early hours of the morning. Many companies are wary of theft and have a midnight or graveyard shift of both workers and security officers. The world that leads from one's home to one's workplace is[..]
Which Country Has the World's Highest Number of Clinical Negligence Claims?
Identifying the precise number of clinical negligence claims raised each year in every country throughout the world is by no means an easy task. Understanding how such claims relate to the countries' respective health care systems is even more of a challenge. In fact, it is almost impossible to accurately quantify in context the number and scope of claims made throughout the world. There are many different reasons as to why one country will experience lower or higher numbers of claims that another and it is difficult to draw any concrete comparisons at the supranational level. Indeed, a relatively poor record of clinical negligence in one country might suggest a heavily litigious[..]
Telescopic Steel Batons - How a Telescopic Steel Baton Can Keep You Safe From the Bad Guys
Telescopic Steel Batons are great self protection devices that will help keep you safe when there is a threat to your life. They are lightweight, very effective and are available in 16, 21 and 26 inch lengths when fully extended and compress to approximately 7 inches. Will you ever need a Telescopic Steel Baton to protect yourself? Maybe and maybe not but are you willing to take that chance? Bill wasn't. He works the 4-12 shift and has to walk to and through the parking lot to get to his car. As with most nighttime parking lots, the lighting is not as good as it should be. And that's just what the bad guys look for when they want money! Bill was leaving work one night and, while walking[..]
Legal Phone Scams
Start calling 809, 876, and 284 Phone Numbers. Here's how they work: A mother and homemaker, a New Jersey native, received an "urgent" phone message saying "call back immediately, your father had an accident." Upon doing so, putting through her call to a given 809 phone number, she was told to hold while the party tried to locate the proper duty nurse (at the supposed hospital). She did. For ten minutes. In later checking through other sources she found that her father was not endangered, had not had an accident, and was indeed well and happy. She promptly forgot the phone call, dismissing it as a matter of mistaken identity. Forgot about it, that is, until jogged back to reality by a[..]
Protect Your Family From Violence - Are Your Hands Tied?
When are our law makers going to wake up and actually look after the law abiding citizens, instead of the leniency that is dished out in the courts to these thugs day after day for such violent acts. Ridiculous sentences being handed down for their crimes, why not give them something to think about. Dare we fight back if one of these crimes is being committed against us or should we hurt them in the process, we in the eyes of the law are now the guilty party. Should we just have to stand there and take it. Why are we not allowed to protect ourselves, family and property? We all work so hard to get to where we want to be in life so why should it be taken away by some free loader who is[..]
KNPV Small Articles
The Koninklijke Nederlandse Politiehond Vereniging (KNPV) is a dog sport originating in Holland that uses a number of exercises in an attempt to mimic situations encountered by police k9 units. One such exercise is centered around a search for small articles. The KNPV small articles search takes place in a square section of grassy field. Three small objects, such as a key, a ring, a bullet casing, or a coin, are placed on the field. The dog then has 10 minutes to search the field and retrieve the objects. The handler is permitted to give basic commands instructing the dog to search, stay or release the retrieved object. A retrieval time of under 3 minutes is required to obtain a perfect[..]

Find out about the resources that you can use to try and find the person you are looking for from the following article. I will point out some things that I would do if I want to find a prisoner. You can also try some of these ideas and I'm sure you will be able to find the person you are looking for. The resources that are mentioned here are designed to locate the general prison population. Those that are under protective custody and other high profile prisoners will not be traced using these ideas. Other than the group of prisoners that I described above, information regarding the rest of[..]
Urban Survival Knives
I would like to write about urban survival knives. I always put a pocket knife in my pocket before leaving home. I have spent a lot of time in some very rough neighborhoods since I grew up in a big city. I was in the remodeling business and sometimes, as they used say you take the good with the bad. Fortunately I never had an incident that required the use of my knife. I honestly think that common sense and street smarts are far better than any weapon. But with that being said I still liked the "safe feeling" from carrying my varieties of pocket knives. Besides pocket knives can be used a tools as well. I got a laugh from the movie "Crocodile Dundee" when his girlfriend Sue and he are[..]
We are born with the most basic self defense mechanism in the world...the fight or flight response. When you are in a dangerous situation, your body tells you whether to fight or run away. Your mind goes through several problem solving decisions in order to determine which response will save your life. A perfect example is if you are walking in the forest and all of a sudden a big bear is in your path staring right at you. Do you run or fight? If the bear gets too close, do you fight the bear? Do you think you can outrun the bear? What else can you do to avoid an attack? If you had a plan for this type of situation before you took your walk in the woods, you would know what to do. The[..]

The Current Trend in Crime Mapping - Putting the Internet to Use
With the inventions of new technologies come different ways for law enforcement to do their job. The Internet has been and is currently a big help to police departments. It not only gives police departments a better way to fight crime, but it also keeps the public safer as well. One of the ways that the Internet helps police departments is that it enables them to quickly track crime trends and then pass the information to the public. Getting the word out to the public about something going on in the neighborhood used to be quite difficult, but with crime mapping and the Internet, it can be done in a few clicks of a keyboard mouse. Before the Internet and the use of crime software[..]
Car Theft in the United States
Car thefts have always been around ever since cars first started being produced. You don't even have to actually steal the car to get charged with grand theft auto, you need to attempt to steal one. Grand theft auto covers any motor vehicle such as automobile, truck, bus, coach bus, motorcycle, snowmobile or trailer. In 2005 there were 416 motor vehicles stolen for every 100,000 people. One of the most common methods for stealing a car is to break into a parked vehicle and hotwire it or tow it away. A very common cause of car theft is when people leave the keys in their cars. This happens frequently in the winter months when people leave their cars running to warm them up before getting[..]
Police Use of Deadly Force - Perceptions
In addition to the mandated use of deadly force that a police officer learns during training, there are subconscious and conscious factors and pressures at work as an officer weighs whether or not to employ deadly force in a threatening situation. Although, statistically, the chances are slim, in the back of every officer's mind is the possibility of being killed in the line of duty by a suspect. Police officers, especially those in urban areas, are always aware of this possibility. For some officers this is a conscious thought; for others unconscious. And, considering the frequency with which assaults against police officers are occurring, this fear is not unreasonable. Unlike the[..]

Parents in Prison
It is estimated that there may be as many as two million children in the United States who have a parent in prisons. The influence and effect of incarceration of parents on their children cannot be minimized. The trauma of separation, the stigma of shame, and the economic implications on the remaining family members can be confusing and devastating to the child. The Family is an institution designed by God. Today our family structure is being weakened by immorality, divorce, violence, and materialism. We live in troubled times. God is in the family repair business. He wants to strengthen family ties and bind families together. As the church and as individual Christians we need to[..]
Non Judicial Punishment (NJP) In The Military - An Overview
Non-judicial punishment (NJP) is a command leadership tool. It gives military commanders a quick means of maintaining good order and discipline. NJP is intended to efficiently correct misconduct at a relatively low level without the stigma of a federal conviction. This proceeding does not constitute a criminal conviction. The majority of crimes that occur in the military are dealt with by using this method of disposition. Before imposing non-judicial punishment, the commander must notify the accused member of the charges and provide him or her with supporting evidence. The service member may then seek legal advice. The service member can choose to accept the NJP or refuse it and demand a[..]

The Concept of Corruption
God has boosted people to the terrain with all crucial things inevitably imperative for their survival. God has also sent them some rules for leading their lives controlled and cleanly and as such he has accordingly bestowed upon some rules and regulation so that human beings can lead his life by following these instructions. If they go out of these rules, they become flummoxed what to do. Corruption lies in rendering services in the field of both private and public sector. When a man relapses himself, he stigmatizes himself by entering into the world of diffuseness as well as fallacious from where he can never get rid of. He commits crime, such as smuggling, robbing, murdering,[..]
The Relationship Between a Recession and Crime
The UK, and much of the world is currently in recession. Crime is generally considered to rise during tough financial times, but in which ways and why? As we know, unemployment increases dramatically during a recession. Businesses struggling or going under cause a spate of redundancies, meaning a large increase in unemployment. This inevitably leads to more cases of depression, which can lead to higher crime. The most obvious cases are drugs and alcohol. People suffering from depression often turn to drugs and alcohol for refuge. Increase in drug taking (a crime itself) leads to more drug related crime. Drug dealing will become more rife if demand is higher, and crime's such as theft may[..]
What is Carjacking?
Carjacking is a form of hijacking. It is a crime where a car is stolen from the owner, mostly under duress. It was generally termed "hijacking", but a carjacker assaults the owner of the vehicle, using threats of bodily harm or risk to life. Most carjackers are armed and the threat of losing one's life is high. Carjacking can be done in various ways. A carjacker can be fortunate to find the car keys in an unlocked car, which saves him from harming the owner. But in the case where the car is locked, and the keys are with the owner, there is the threat of assault. Some carjackers have been known to assault vehicle owners while they are in their vehicles, forcing them to give them the car[..]

When a thief demands your wallet or purse, it is obvious that they are after your money. Beyond this, there are many other potential targets contained in the purse or wallet. Although identity thieves are becoming more sophisticated, the typical contents of a purse or wallet still hold plenty of useful personal information for them. Although there's no way to guarantee that your purse or wallet will never be stolen, there are ways to lessen the impact of the theft by avoiding carrying around more than you have to. Below are a few important items that you should never carry with you. 1.Social security card. This personal information is like the "holy grail" for identity thieves. Far too[..]
Crime and Punishment Book Review
The main character of the novel Crime and Punishment by Feodor Dostoevsky, Raskolnikov, is in reality two totally contradicting personalities. One part of him is the the intellectual. He is cold, unfeeling and inhumane. He exibits tremendous self-will. It is this side that enables him to commit the most terrible crime imaginable - taking another human life. The other part of his personality is warmand compassionate. This is the side of him that does charitable acts and fights out against the evil in his society. The confusion in Raskolnikov's soul is best seen when he tries to help a girl in the street who has been raped and left to the whims of anyone who finds her. Raskolnikov tries[..]
The extendable baton is one of the best self-defense weapons available to the general public today. Its small size makes it easily concealable, and unlike a firearm, or taser, collapsible batons hardly ever require the user to obtain a license for its carry or use. There are several important considerations to take into account when purchasing a extendable baton. First, look at the materials used. These are most commonly plastic or metal. Weigh your needs carefully before making a decision. Plastic is much lighter than metal, making it easier for women to use. Metal batons are much more durable in the long run, but it is important to note that both types deliver an almost equal amount of[..]
Stalkers Explained - Their Interactions With Family and Friends
With stalking becoming a global epidemic how can we protect ourselves from their insidious advances? Are we going to have to ask for credentials every time we go on a first date? It may sound crazy but the amount of women being stalked by men is mind blowing. The early days of dating someone new can be so exhilarating and exciting but for some women it has turned into a nightmarish experience. As stalkers are usually incredibly attentive their over the top advances may be interpreted as caring and romantic. They are very tuned to what a girl likes and will probably go overboard with the roses and chocolates. The extended family will probably adore them also as they will work very hard to[..]
7 Critical ATM Safety Tips
The ATM is very convenient, as it reduces the need to stand in endless lines at the bank to withdraw some cash. Open 24-7, the ATM makes it easy to access your money whenever the need strikes. Today, these machines are located virtually everywhere, from malls and grocery stores to parking lots on nearly every street. Most people simply accept using the ATM as a routine in their life. However, there is a disadvantage to constantly turning to an ATM. Unfortunately, ATM robberies are relatively simple to pull off, and that makes them an attractive crime. Too many people use the ATM with hardly a thought, certainly never stopping to consider how dangerous it might be. To avoid being robbed[..]
Cosa Nostra (Mafia) In Italy
Most movie buffs would recognize the reference of the phrase "an offer he can't refuse." The last name Corleone can't be anything but the last name of the Godfather. The TV show "The Sopranos" updated the image of organized crime and presented it in a very modern and realistic manner. However, though one might have been exposed to information about the mafia, one cannot ignore the air of mystery that hovers around the concept. The mafia, or the Nosa Costra, is believed to have begun in Sicily, Italy. Although this is not the first organized crime family ever created, this is the most famous. Though there has been organized crime documented before the Cosa Nostra came into existence, this[..]
Causes of Juvenile Crime
I have worked with Juveniles for the past six years as of April 1st, 2010. Working with them has been quite a rewarding experience with many highs and lows. When I think of some of the crimes that they have committed, it leads me to believe that maybe if their fathers have been an active part of theirs lives that it is a strong possibility that they wouldn't be serving time in a Juvenile Jail. I do realize that we have some youth that come from two parent homes but over 80% of our youth come from broken single parent homes. I am currently working a book on my experiences with working with Juveniles and I surveyed fifty students to see what type of relationship did they have with their[..]
Why Law Enforcement Need Nightsticks
Most law enforcement policies allow "reasonable and necessary [force] to protect others or themselves from bodily harm." The debate over the use of force by police is a decades old question. How much is too much? Should police be allowed to use TASERs, pepper spray, batons, et cetera. Almost any weapon can be abused and many have been throughout history. However, it is important that we not repeat the situation of the early 1930s when law enforcement agents were at a severe disadvantage against violent criminals who were armed better than they were. Proper training in defense techniques and emphasis of "necessary force" only should reduce the infrequent cases of "police brutality" and[..]
How Your Look Can Help You to Avoid Becoming a Predators Target
I am not talking about your overall look but look at a person and make eye contact. Take a quick inventory of the person, hair, tattoos, scars any identifying feature that they may have. One big mistake you can make is not making eye contact. When you make eye contact that means you have a good chance at identifying the person and that is the last thing they want to happen or for you to be able to do. If a person challenges you with their eyes, look back, recognize them then look away as you move on. This challenging look should have tripped an alarm within you that this person could be a threat to my safety. This alarm is time for you to move away from the situation, it is important to[..]
How to Avoid Becoming a Road Rage Victim
According to the Foundation for Traffic Safety, road rage and aggressive driving are two of the top concerns facing today's drivers. In today's fast-paced world, it is all too easy to become worked up if your commute is taking a little longer than expected. Even if you remain patient, there's no guarantee that everyone else behind the wheel will be driving in a courteous manner. Traffic jams make driving a tedious task, and can increase drivers' stress levels, resulting in road rage. If you drive today, it is nearly impossible to escape the consequences of enraged drivers on the road. How do you avoid becoming a road rage victim? First, understand the importance of your driving style. If[..]
Forensic Science - How Does a Medical Examiner Differentiate Between an Entrance and Exit Wound?
Whenever a shooting occurs and police are called to investigate a dead body as a result of the shooting, crime scene investigators (CSI's) will come to process the scene. The medical examiner will then determine where the bullet entered; if possible, where it exited; and what caliber bullet, or bullet diameter, was used to kill the victim. In this article, I will define what entry and exit wounds are and what the characteristics are that make up an entry wound. When a bullet enters a person, it leaves behind what is called an entry wound. However, that bullet will not necessarily leave another hole called an exit wound when the bullet exits the body. Often times, the bullet stays[..]
Characteristics of Somali Pirates
Somalia is a country located beyond Indian Ocean and the Red Sea, where is convenient for the native to attack the passing by merchant vessel. It's well known that Somali pirates usually attack big merchant ships brazenly. And it's not strange that Somali pirates have become a heated topic nationwide. Then what's the main characteristics of Somali pirate? 1 POOR Even though the Somali often rob for huge property, only a few of them can enjoy a wealthy life, and most of them are still too poor to feed themselves and their family. The poverty is the most important cause to so many hijacks. 2 BRUTAL A large number of Somali pirates are insufficiently educated to be civilized enough, so they[..]
Bug Detectors - The Most Effective Way to Detect Hidden Cameras
Fifteen years ago, it was easy to spot a surveillance camera because they were big and bulky, but it is becoming increasingly difficult to do that nowadays. This is because surveillance cameras are much more smaller now and consume much less power than they did a couple of years ago. As a result, hidden cameras can now be installed in places we cannot imagine possible. As a matter of fact, these miniature cameras that can now be installed in items as small as a ballpoint pen, a cigarette lighter, a wrist watch and so on. However, some people argue that anyone interested in detecting hidden cameras may have criminal desires. They say if you are not going to break the law, why worry about[..]
Hawaii Curbs Gun Violence
According to the Violence Policy Center (VPC), The Aloha state has fewer deaths by gunfire per 100,000 residents than any other state. The VPC attributes this to a no-nonsense attitude by state officials concerning the purchase, registration, licensing, transportation and use of all types of firearms. VPC statistics show that in Hawaii, household gun ownership is estimated at 9.7 percent, lower than any other state. The reduced number of guns translates directly into a gunfire death rate of only 2.2 per 100,000 residents. Stated differently, fewer guns on the street mean fewer people being killed by gunfire every year. This conclusion is contrary to the position of the National Rifle[..]
How Pepper Spray Works
Most people have heard of pepper spray, but do you know how it works, or what exactly is inside the can that you are carrying? All sprays are not the same. They are rated in Scoville Heat Units (SHUs), just like very hot peppers. This measurement is directly related to how effective the pepper spray will be. Most currently available have a rating of around 2 to 3 million SHU. A very hot habanero pepper is close to 2 million SHUs, for comparison. The higher the SHU, the hotter the spray, although any of the commercially available pepper sprays should be plenty to stop an attacker. They come in a variety of effectiveness ratings. Most are designed to stop humans, while others are rated for[..]
On Juvenile Crime, Causes, and Prevention
Juvenile crime is a blanket term that refers to any of a number of criminal acts which are perpetrated by minors. While adult crime is typically well understood from a criminal psychology perspective, the range and causes of juvenile crime are a bit more vague in terms of our understanding. In any case, juvenile crime poses a unique threat and responsibility to society to address and prevent before it can cause devastating consequences. Some of the most common forms of juvenile crime are vandalism, harassment, drug use and sales, as well as gang related violence and battery. While researchers do not agree upon the causes of juvenile crime, there are a number of risk factors which are[..]
Civilian Use of Force in Self Defense - What Are the Standards?
Under international law, personal self-defense is a well-established human right and is an important foundation of international law itself as well as the constitution of America. From 1893 to 1896, the United States Supreme Court handed down a series of decisions involving self-defense and the carrying and use of firearms for self- defense. These cases laid the foundation for a 1921 opinion, authored by Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes, which became the most important armed self- defense case in American legal history, upholding and extending the right to armed self-defense. Self-defense is a legal protection for the use of force; even deadly force to protect one's life or the life of a[..]
