| |
| | part touching the foil was burnt while
|

| |
| | other parts were a bit under

| |
| | done.Actually, I didn't mind so much. I
|

| |

| |

| |
| | cooking over wood or charcoal. With a

|
| campfire ceremony, and specific
| |
| | For example, while on a hike, one of the
|
| information on this summer's Webelos
| |
| | trainers was telling us that when we are
|
| camps. We also had an evening campfire
| |
| | on a trail, if we come to a puddle we
|
| ceremony. The staff did a great job with
| |
| | should walk through it instead of walking
|
| this. It was very entertaining with
| |
| | around it (which would then be creating a
|
| jokes, skits, songs, and a short
| |
| | new trail). This was due to the "leave
|
| inspirational talk at the end. The
| |
| | no trace" philosophy. However, shortly
|
| inspirational talk was based on NOTES FOR
| |
| | after that we were herded off the trail
|
| KEYNOTE ADDRESS FOR JSCOPE 2000 By
| |
| | to be shown various trees and plants, and
|
| General Charles C. Krulak, which was
| |
| | in the process people were trampling wild
|
| about the Roman military roots of the
| |
| | flowers. Also, they encouraged us to
|
| word "integrity".Finally, one of the last
| |
| | take rocks, fossils, and arrowheads that
|
| things we did was go on a hike that also
| |
| | we found to start our own collections. I
|
| doubled as a tour of the facilities.
| |
| | always thought that was against the leave
|
| They also had us do a sort of scavenger
| |
| | no trace philosophy.Another thing that I
|
| hunt where we we supposed to take note of
| |
| | thought was funny was the way they taught
|
| something small, something large,
| |
| | us to start fires. In the old days,
|
| something beautiful, something
| |
| | scouts would learn to start fires without
|
| mysterious, something magical, something
| |
| | even using a match. These trainers
|
| from the past, something that represents
| |
| | emphasized much easier methods. Some of
|
| the future, etc. When we got back there
| |
| | the fire starters they showed us
|
| was a little inspirational talk where one
| |
| | included: dryer lint, cardboard coated
|
| of the trainers talked about how an apple
| |
| | with candle wax, store bought fire
|
| can be viewed as being all of these
| |
| | starters, and store bought fake logs
|
| things and sliced the apple in half
| |
| | chopped up into smaller pieces and
|
| showing the star. He talked about how
| |
| | wrapped in newspaper. Another attendee
|
| boys see nature through the eyes of their

| | mentioned making firestarts by mixing

| scout leaders and how the boys are our

|
| future. On the whole, the training was
| |
| | All these are interesting ideas, but they
|
| quite good. The only problem we had was
| |
| | seem like cheating to me.Anyway, this
|
| with the way the cooking was done. The
| |
| | experience really was fun and very
|
| staff had brought in a big portable fire
| |
| | informative. Some of the sessions
|
| pit into which they dumped charcoal.
| |
| | (especially first aid) seemed far too
|
| There was no way to control air flow, and
| |
| | short, but they were throwing a lot of
|
| the fire got so hot that it was difficult
| |
| | information at us. Also, it was fun just
|
| to get close enough to stir the pot
| |
| | getting together with the other leaders
|
| without getting burnt. In fact, I did
| |
| | and meeting new people.
